Lifestyle Fitness Turns 40!

Wow, 40 years! We can’t believe it’s been that long… We hope you’ve had a chance to celebrate with us down at your local club.

We have been operating in the health and fitness sector since 1982 and today have over 30 health clubs across the UK. We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service, high quality fitness clubs and helping our members achieve their wellness goals. Lifestyle Fitness, initially named Competition Line, origins date back to Sweden, where Swedish entrepreneur Carl Gripenstedt founded the company. Our start in the fitness industry was specialising in strength and resistance equipment, such as dumbbells, squat racks and weight machinery.

Since then, we’ve worked tirelessly to build a brand that puts our members at the heart of our mission, which is to provide the UK with the best in high quality gym facilities and health clubs at an affordable price. We’ve always strived to create an environment that allows anyone to reach their fitness goals, whatever their ability, size, age or fitness level. Working with local authorities, schools, colleges, leisure centres and our business partners, we are committed to promoting the benefits of exercise and a healthy lifestyle nationwide.

Along with our Earn While You Burn programme and work with our chosen charity, Centrepoint, we are immensely proud of the money we’ve raised for charitable causes over the years. This currently amounts to £750,000! We hope to keep the legacy of Carl alive with our charity work, the same way we have memorialised our previous Managing Director, Gordon Hall, through The Gordon Hall Memorial Fund. This fund aims to support athletes who compete at a national or international level in a recognised sport who also train in our clubs. Our current roster of Lifestyle Fitness Athletes who benefit from the fund compete in a variety of sports, from martial arts to gymnastics. Athletes on the fund can get up to £2,500 in support towards competing, covering costs such as travel costs and sports kit.

We’ve got big plans for future health clubs and ventures over the next few years too, which we can’t wait to show you. So, here’s to the next 40 years!

As always, we are so grateful to have you as a member! We wouldn’t have come this far without the support from you. Thank you from the entire team.

Healthy Regards,
Lifestyle Fitness
