Lifestyle Fitness to Reopen Gym in Addlestone with £400,000 Investment

We are excited to announce that we are investing over £400,000 to create a new health and fitness club at Jubilee High School, restoring access to a valued community facility in Addlestone after the previous operator shut in July 2025.

Expected to open in November 2026, the club will feature a completely redesigned gym, a comprehensive programme of group exercise classes, specialist functional training and recovery areas, upgraded changing facilities and saunas.

To celebrate the forthcoming opening, we have launched a limited Early Bird membership offer of just £14.99 per month for the first 12 months. Prospective members can secure the introductory rate now by visiting: https://www.lifestylefitness.co.uk/club/addlestone

The redevelopment has been made possible through close collaboration between Runnymede Borough Council and Bourne Education Trust, which have worked together to bring the facility back into community use.

We have operated sports facilities at Jubilee High School since summer 2025 and are now preparing to welcome local residents and new members to the expanded health and fitness club.

Building work is already underway, with the space being comprehensively redesigned and equipped to create a modern, welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels.

What members can expect

The approximately £400,000 redevelopment will create a completely new health and fitness environment, combining modern training facilities, an extensive group exercise programmeand dedicated spaces for recovery and relaxation.

Group exercise will be a central part of the new club’s offer, reintroducing a popular and important feature of the former facility. Members will have unlimited access to a varied timetable of instructor-led classes, including group cycling, mind-and-body sessions, functional workouts, and HYROX training.

From opening, members will have access to:

  • A brand-new gym with a comprehensive range of cardio, strength and resistance equipment
  • A dedicated group exercise studio offering unlimited fitness classes
  • Group cycling, mind-and-body and instructor-led functional sessions
  • A functional training area featuring a training rig and two-lane sled track
  • HYROX classes focused on strength, fitness and endurance
  • An extensive free weights area with three lifting platforms
  • A dedicated recovery zone with stretching space, massage guns and compression boots
  • InBody body-composition analysis to help members understand and track their progress
  • Upgraded changing facilities featuring sauna, giving members a dedicated place to relax and unwind after training
  • Vanity areas equipped with GHD hairdryers and straighteners

With an extensive class timetable, high-quality gym equipment, specialist training areas and the added benefit of an on-site sauna, the club will offer far more than a traditional gym experience. Members will be able to train, take part in classes, recover and relax, all under one roof.

A new chapter for the community

The gym facility at Jubilee High School closed in July 2025, leaving a gap in local health and fitness provision. Since then, Runnymede Borough Council and Bourne Education Trust have worked collaboratively to identify a sustainable way to reopen the space and return it to community use.

Its reopening will begin a new chapter for the facility and create more opportunities for people across Addlestone and the surrounding area to become active, improve their wellbeing, and work towards their personal goals.

James Lawrence, Managing Director of Lifestyle Fitness, said:

“We’re thrilled to be investing over £400,000 to bring this much-valued gym back to the Addlestone community.

“From a packed group exercise timetable and high-quality training spaces to dedicated recovery facilities and a sauna, we’re creating somewhere people can train, recharge and feel at home.

“We can’t wait to open the doors and welcome everyone in November.”

Alex Russell, Chief Executive Officer at Bourne Education Trust, said:

“We’re really pleased to have worked alongside Runnymede Borough Council and Lifestyle Fitness to bring this important facility back to life at Jubilee High School. This significant investment will enhance the learning environment for our pupils, providing high-quality facilities to support physical education within the curriculum, as well as a broader range of extra-curricular opportunities.

"We’re also delighted that the facility can be shared with the local community, making the most of the school site and creating a space that will benefit pupils, families and residents alike.”

Cllr Robert King, Co-Leader of Runnymede Borough Council, said:

“When the previous operator withdrew from this site in 2025, our priority as an administration was to get this facility back into community use as quickly as possible. It was built to provide local leisure and wellbeing services, and it's vital for residents of all ages, particularly younger people and older adults who rely on it most.

“While this has taken considerable time due to the complex history of the site, I’m pleased that our collective work with the Bourne Education Trust has delivered a sustainable new operator in Lifestyle Fitness, backed by significant investment.”

The development continues our work with schools, universities and community venues across the UK.

The limited Early Bird offer of £14.99 per month for the first 12 months is available now, subject to membership terms and conditions.
