Wimbledon is just around the corner and we're all ready to get in the spirit of the game and fall back in love with tennis for the next couple of weeks.

As well as being a great sport to watch, playing a game of tennis can be a great workout, really benefitting your fitness and can compliment your gym training.

So dust off your racket and head down to your local court as we tell you how you can train and succeed like the pros...

Lose fat fast- Playing tennis can be a great whole body workout. Sprint, swing, jump, reach, lunge, crouch and pivot is just some of the movements you will probably make during your game, making it good for cardio workouts. It is estimated that during an hour long game of tennis you can burn up to 600 calories, which can help you to lose fat quicker.

Build muscle- Unlike many sports, tennis requires you to use a number of different muscle groups at the same time. Your arms, legs, trunk and upper body muscles are challenged to work together, making it impossible not to build strength and muscle.

Improve balance- Tennis can improve hand-eye co-ordination, balance and flexibility. Tennis also requires power, speed and endurance, as you have to think on your toes.

Stimulate your brain- Playing tennis is great for your mental wellbeing, as a game requires you to be alert, focused and strategic.
