Over £69,000 raised for homelessness charity!

14th June 2018

Lifestyle Fitness is proud to announce that we have donated an incredible £69,704.84 to homelessness charity Centrepoint.

Centrepoint is the UK’s leading charity working to tackle the issue of youth homelessness and change perceptions, helping more than 125,000 young people to turn their lives around since 1969.

From in-club charity fundraisers, company donations and the incredible generosity of our members, this huge sum of money has been donated to help vulnerable, young people fulfil their potential with housing, health support and learning/ employability pathways.

Homeless young people are some of the most disenfranchised and socially excluded members of society. With few positive role models or wider social networks to rely on, individuals become trapped in a cycle of exclusion and despair.

Centrepoint's latest figures show that when young people arrive at Centrepoint:

-40% have no qualifications whatsoever

-68% have experienced a family breakdown, neglect or abuse

-20% have attempted suicide

-33% have already slept rough

However, with the £69,704.84 that has been raised and donated by Lifestyle Fitness, Centrepoint can continue to help more young people in areas such as:

-Providing 70 young people with a Uni Starter Kit; which includes books, clothes, food and other essentials for their first term at university.

-Paying for 280 young people to do an eight-week programme at a professional football club; an experience that will enable the young people to build their self-esteem and give them vital skills that will support their move into employment.

-Funding two mental health advisors; individuals that will provide one-to-one support to young people with severe mental health issues and play an essential role in making sure they can progress into independent living successfully and healthily.

Centrepoint’s Head of Corporate, Nick Connolly said: “Carl Gripenstedt, the founder of Lifestyle Fitness, approached me many years ago and offered to help Centrepoint through his business. Carl was aghast that young lives were being wasted and was passionate about helping homeless young people take control of their lives. We are sincerely grateful that Carl’s family and business have decided to continue supporting Centrepoint’s work to end youth homelessness in his memory.

We feel honoured to be able to contribute to helping homeless young people around the UK to turn their lives around and we look forward to continuing our charity work in the future!
