National Chocolate Milkshake Day

Hurray! It’s National Chocolate Milkshake Day! A day dedicated to chocolatey goodness, who wouldn’t want to celebrate that?! We are bringing you shakes you can’t refuse - the good, the bad, but most importantly the tasty.

Just because it’s a sweet treat doesn’t mean it has to be all bad. Live life on the edge and indulge in these oh so good protein milkshakes! Being healthy doesn’t mean being bland, so get creative with these funky shakes that are bound to have you bouncing around the gym.

Java Chocolate Protein Shake
If you’re a coffee lover then this one’s for you! This could be the morning boost you need pre-workout. The caffeine can help you with sleep deprivation, physical performance and mental stimulation. The chocolate... Well the chocolate just makes it taste extra good!

What you need:

  • 1 cup of ice
  • 1 cup of milk
  • ½ a cup of cold coffee
  • 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips

Mexican Frozen Hot Chocolate Shake
This shake is extra thick, creamy and packed full of protein. Here’s a little tip to make this milkshake more interesting - grab your peanut butter and use it to coat the edge of the glass. Then, grab some sprinkles of your choice and apply them to the peanut butter edge. As tempting as it is, be careful not to lick the glass before your shake is complete!

What you need:

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/2 of cinnamon
  • ½ a container of Greek yogurt
  • 1/3 of a scoop of cinnamon swirl protein powder
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup of almond milk
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 5 ice cubes

Almond Coconut Mocha Protein Shake
This is the ultimate shake for all you fitspo’s – its low fat and sugar content make it a healthy option, as well as being packed with protein! Of course, it doesn’t hurt that something so healthy can taste so sweet. It’s almost like indulging in your favourite chocolate bar - minus the guilt of course!

What you need:

  • 1 container of silk unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • ½ cold coffee
  • 1 tsp of coconut extract
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 2 scoops of vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tsp of coffee granules
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • Shredded coconut shavings

Dark Chocolate and Peppermint
With summer coming to an end, this shake with a hint of peppermint is perfect for the run up to any festivities! Dark chocolate is known to help you slim down as it decreases your appetite and lessens any food cravings you may have. If you have a sweet tooth you won’t be able to resist.

What you need:

  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 1 scoop of dark chocolate protein powder
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp of pure peppermint extract
  • Optional – top with chocolate chips and whipped cream.

Snickers and Pretzel Chocolate Milkshake
If you are looking for something on the naughty side then this is the shake for you! You’re entitled to a cheat day and if today’s yours, you’re in luck.

What you need:

  • 2 cups of chocolate ice cream
  • 4 fun sized snickers bars
  • 1 packet of pretzels broken into little bits
  • 1 cup of milk 
  • 1 cup of ice

All your milkshake ingredients need adding to a blender and are to be blended until your desired thickness.
