Olympic weightlifting star and Middlesbrough PT Kelly-Jo is heading to the Commonwealth Games 2018 in Australia to compete.

The games are taking place in April and Kelly-Jo will be representing England in weightlifting!

She has been funded by the Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation's FAST Fund, which she says has helped her with her training for the games.

A former gymnast, Kelly-Jo is heading to the games just 3 and a half years after taking up weightlifting at the age of 25.

"I found my love of Olympic weightlifting as i developed my career in strength and conditioning on an internship at Durham University.

My ambitions for the games are to achieve a respectful total and finish within the top 6 and also make my country, friends and family proud!"

Kelly-Jo works as a strength and conditioning coach, working with members at Lifestyle Fitness to develop their weightlifting.

She trains at Lifestyle Fitness Middlesbrough and Atlas Gym, by coaches Dave Sawyer and Cyril Martin.

"My motivation comes from always wanting to achieve my best, to be the best version of me. My coaches, family and friends are all hugely supportive and I thank them for believing in me!"

Good luck Kelly-Jo!
