“After suffering from a TIA mini stroke at nearly 29 stone, I was told I had no choice but to lose weight. I took on a healthy diet and joined Lifestyle Fitness, doing lots of cardio and managed to lose a life-changing 16 stone! I was incredibly happy, however my dramatic weight loss left me with a lot of excess skin. After consulting my doctor, they told me the NHS could not help me unless I kept my BMI at 25 for a whole year- for me this meant I had to maintain my weight at 12 stone 6lbs. I did manage to maintain my weight for the year and they took all of my excess skin.

A year later I have kept off all the weight and I am addicted to the gym! I train every day, sometimes twice a day, and I love it! My advice to anyone starting out is just to make that step of joining the gym. Start off with just 30 minutes of cardio a day and gradually increase your time the more you go. Look at what your eating habits are- cut out bread and fried food and just continue to motivate yourself.

I suffer with severe depression and anxiety and was really nervous about going to the gym for the first time- but I had no choice. I was morbidly obese and when I had my TIA mini stroke that was the wake up call for me. I wanted to be around for my children. My daughter was only 7 years old at the time and I thought I would love to be able to run around, kick a ball and play games and now my life has actually changed for the best. Onwards and upwards from here!"
